Christmas Lights Switch on

The CVA has been organising the Christmas Lights since 2003 and both the decorations and the switch-on event have evolved over the years.

We close The Parade to traffic, local community groups set up stalls and most shops stay open.  There is a wide choice of refreshments and things to buy, and a roundabout for youngsters.

Entertainment is provided by Claygate Scout and Guide band, Thames Valley Morris Men and the choirs from local shools.   The lights are ceremoniously switched on early in the procedings and fireworks mark the conclusion.

The event is funded by local shops and businesses, Surrey County Council, Claygate Parish Council, Holy Trinity Church and a bucket collection on the night.
